課程概述 |
This course provides some essential guides to listening and conversational skills and will offer weekly practices in listening and speaking. Students are expected and required to participate in in-class conversation and respond to teacher's questions in English. The course will be conducted with weekly practices of note taking, in-class discussion, group presentation, speech recording, video viewing provided by the instructor. Active participation and devotion is highly demanded and appreciated.

Course Requirement:
Class Participation: Students are expected to attend every class and join all class discussions. There will be sessions of video viewing on different topics and students are expected to listen with their note book (usually on Mondays). Students are also expected to do extra note takings as they do their viewing at home (linkages provided by the instructor). Performances in note taking will be reviewed occasionally by the instructor as an indication of their learning curve.
Class Discussion: Students are required to join class discussions in every meeting. Students’ ability to raise and take questions and to join discussion is regarded as a valuable indication in their learning.
Group and Individual Presentations: Students are expected to form a group of three and conduct TWO group presentations (usually on Thursdays). Students are allowed to do the first group presentation with a self-chosen topic. The second topic has to follow topics of class discussion as a supplement and extension to class learning. Each student will have to present ONE individual presentation with topic of their own choice. All presentations, group and individual alike, last about 15-20 minutes, followed by discussions, and could be assisted with any visual or audio aids.
